Weekday Walk Programme Spring/Summer 2024
Thursday 11th April – Glen Esk. Walk Start Point: Tarfside Car Park Landranger map 44 Grid Ref. 493796.
This circular walk starts from Tarfside and follows tracks and paths to Hill of Rowan. An interesting path marker to find is the Cross Stone which is believed to be associated with St Drostan and according to legend is where Robert the Bruce put his standard in 1306 before a battle with the Earl of Buchan. The path from here leads to the summit of Hill of Rowan with great views over the surrounding countryside as well as the Maule monument on the summit. Wednesday 24th April – Glen Prosen. Walk Start Point: Car Park at church. Landranger map 44 Grid Ref. 328657.
On this walk we follow the Minister's Road which links Glen Prosen with Glen Clova and derives it's name from the minister at Glen Prosen also serving in Glen Clova. We turn back south after going through a gate in the fence and head up to the summit of Knachly and on to the top of Hill of Spott. Thursday 9th May – Glen Isla. Walk Start Point: Freuchies Car Park Landranger map 44 Grid Ref. 223608.
This is a circular, mostly forest walk on tracks going north and east from Freuchies to loop round Craigie Law and returning via Tulloch. Wednesday 22nd May – North Fife. Walk Start Point: Luthrie Hall Car Park. Landranger map 59 Grid Ref. 330196.
This circular takes us from Luthrie to the remains of the hill fort on the summit of Norman's Law via Lower Luthrie and Carpgin farms , and Black Craig. The return is by way of Denmuirhill and Wester Kingsleith. Thursday 6th June – Angus Coast. Walk Start Point: Easthaven Car Park. Landranger map 54 Grid Ref. 591362.
This is an enjoyable walk along part of the Angus coast from Easthaven to Eliot on the outskirts of Arbroath. The walk then loops inland for a bit before rejoining the outward route past the site of Dowrie works.
5.5 mile walk with 40 metres of ascent.

Wednesday 19th June – Sidlaws. Walk Start Point: Forest Gate Car Park. Landranger map 53 Grid Ref. 269348.
This linear walk goes from the car park to the boat house at Redmyre Loch. We then continue to Dron Hill and its fort before returning by the outward route. More information about the Dron Hill fort is at https://canmore.org.uk/site/30626/dron-hill
